Yun Day - Moderator

Yun Day is the SVP of Human Resources at Del Amo Construction. She has over 25 years of experience as a human resources leader and is driven to optimize the employee experience. She has a track record of delivering improved capacity, growth, and transformation through human capital innovation. Yun’s expertise is in both operational and strategic HR practices. She oversees all aspects of human resources planning and develops scalable infrastructure, policies, and programs to effectively support business growth.

Yun’s experience spans many industries including insurance, finance, and architecture. She is a graduate of UCLA with multiple certifications including SPHR, SHRM-SCP, PHRca, GPHR, LEED AP BD+C, Six Sigma Black Belt, and Lean Six Sigma Black Belt. She is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management and Mensa.

Dan Perez - Safety Professional

Dan Perez is a retired Principal Construction Inspector with the City of Los Angeles. Dan was the Program Safety Manager for Los Angeles World Airports Planning and Development Group prior to his retirement in 2018. Dan could not stay away from the excitement at the airport and is currently a Project Safety Manager at Los Angeles World Airports overseeing the Airport People Mover (APM) and the Roadway, Utilities, and Enabling (RUE) projects. He is a Certified Safety Professional with the Board of Certified Safety Professionals. He is a Cal OSHA authorized trainer. Dan has over 30 years of experience in Public Works construction and safety. Dan is also one of the trainers at LAX for the latest crop of assistant inspectors. Dan loves training and sharing his experiences with those that will listen.

Vanessa de la Torre - CHST

Vanessa de la Torre, CHST has 15years of construction and safety experience. She has a passion for safety excellence and regularly coaches workers in planning their work and working safely. As the HSE Manager, Vanessa ensures all job sites operate under strict safety policies, provides appropriate training and guidance to PCL employees, provides guidance to subcontractors, and conducts weekly safety meetings, pre-task meetings, safety orientations, safety observation reports and monthly accident statistics reports. Vanessa is currently the District HSE Champion In this capacity, she helps prepare new training, provides requirements for product development, and uses best practices to support the adoption of district-wide HSE orientations for all projects. Vanessa is also active in the safety industry, serving on the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) Board and as President-Elect for multiple years. Vanessa has worked on various high profile project such as Harry Potter at Universal Studios, Crypto Arena Renovations previously known as Staples Center, Banc of California LAFC soccer stadium.

Brandy Rodriguez Ortega

Brandy Rodriguez Ortega is a business and sales manager with Reliance Safety Consultants. She began as a human resources professional with the organization and transitioned to a health and safety consultant. She worked with companies to ensure compliance with complex state and federal occupational workplace regulations and workplace hazard assessments. She specialized in Lockout Tag-out (training, ECP development, and auditing). Brandy now leads the sales team and oversees daily business operations.

Cardiel Luna

As Founder of Reliance Safety Consultants, Cardiel personally knows how it feels to see your loved ones injured at work. When he was eight years of age and came home from school one day, Cardiel’s father was at home with a broken arm. His arm was almost severed at work on an equipment due to lack of training, lock-out tag-out procedures, or safety oversight. Injuries at work cause emotional and financial hardships to families, and financially impact companies and decreasing profits. This personal connection fuels Cardiel’s passion for safety and compliance. Cardiel’s staff of Safety Professionals are Authorized OSHA Instructors and have degrees and certifications in the Occupational Safety and Environmental field. Their experience ranges from working at Cal/OSHA to working at Fortune 500 Companies providing consulting, training/certification, written programs, and audits/inspections. They provide services throughout California, and neighboring states, including Hawaii.

Juan Cuevas

Juan is an Environment, Health, and Safety Manager at Turner Construction. He is certified through the Board of Certified Safety Professionals as a Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST).
